Here at Frank HQ we’re rapt that a leading independent consumer magazine recently saw fit to include Frank’s Best and Basic hospital products in their list of Health Insurance Best Buys.

Frank Best Hospital cover is a Best Buy in the Full Cover, up to $1,000 excess category, and Frank’s Basic Hospital cover is a Best Buy in the Cheapest Policy to Avoid Lifetime Health Cover Surcharge category.

Yay!

We’re especially happy to be included for three reasons:

• Our goal is to bring you simple, affordable health insurance products without omitting the frills, and the report says that we’ve managed to do that.
• The report was published by Australia’s leading independent consumer magazine (we aren’t allowed to name them) that exists to provide independent, unbiased comparisons that you can trust.
• Frank was up against some majorly big health funds that have been around for ages, including the best products from Medibank Private, HCF, GMHBA, NIB and MBF. It’s great for us to know that Frank’s products stack up against the big guns, but it’s even better for you to know that you have decent choices other than the traditional players.

The consumer magazine regularly compare all sorts of products to help you (the consumer) make decisions about where your money will be best spent. They work out what’s important about a particular product or service, select a range of providers, and start their research.

The way they score products varies for each report. For the Health Insurance Best Buys report they scored health funds and their products based on the price and level of cover for 10 restricted services: major heart surgery; cataract eye surgery; obstetrics (pregnancy- and birth-related services); assisted reproductive services (IVF); hip and knee replacements; dialysis for chronic renal failure; plastic surgery for medical reasons; rehabilitation; psychiatric services and palliative care.

We’re not allowed to point you to the web site that includes the report (weird, I know), but there’s a fair chance that you’ve already guessed who it is. You’re a smart cookie. :-)
